My allegiance is to the Republic, to democracy!

Finally, finally. Some Star Wars Armada news. Lets have a look at the Republic Fleet Starter Set.

The medium base ship in the set is the Acclamator class assault ship. As with all ships in Armada it comes in to classes. The both have a brace, redirect and a salvo defence tokens, command and squadron value of three and engineering value of four. The Acclamator's movement chart maxs out at speed three with a single yaw at each speed. The Acclamator I-class is 66pts with an Officer, Weapons team Ordinance, Turbolaser and two Offensive Retrofits. Seven hull four shields on the front and two on the sides and rear. As a comparison the Imperial Victory-I is 73pts with a redirect instead of a salvo an extra hull but is slower. It is interesting to see how the Acclamator goes against the Victory.

The Acclamator II class trades both offensive retrofit for a defensive retrofit an added blue dice to the front and upgrading black to blue in the rear and flak for the cost of 71pts. That is two points less than the Victory I which is crazy cheap when you think about it.

So who will be commanding this ship? Obi-Wan is 28pts and reads While a friendly ship is defending when it spends a readied redirect token, it may reduce the total damage by 1 before it suffers damage. so a semi expert shield tech for your fleet. (expert shield tech you can spend to reduce but it replaces the effect) Notably this is in addition to any other effect so stacks with expert shield tech and the normal effect. Seeing as not taking damage is good Obi Wan will probably see play in medium heavy builds.
The other commander is Bail Organa also comes in at 28pts, starts with 5 tokens of either Nav or Repair and reads When a friendly ship reveals a command, you may discard up to 1 token of each type from this card. For each token you discard, that ship gains 1 additional command dial matching that token's type. O boy, talk about pocket Thrawn but more and less flexible at the same time. Sure 5 commands of nav or repair for any ship in the fleet is great however Thrawn can give three turns of commands to every ship in your fleet some of which may not need or even make use of that command. However Bail can give five ships the order they need (aslong as it is nav or repair).

Acclamators have two titles revealed at this point, Implacable allows to reduce damage for a friendly ship or squadron at range two by spending shields from it from front hull zone once per turn. Nevoota Bee for five points when using a squadron command each non unique squadron that you activates gains swarm and if you activate a squadron with swarm may reroll a die while attacking a ship. On a Acclamator I with expanded hanger, boosted comms, Flight controllers and this title is going to be a solid carrier that can support the fighters aswell.
Clone Captain Zak, Hyperspace Rings and Clone Gunners are all Republic only upgrades. Hyperspace Rings for 3pts allows Before deploying fleets, you may choose a number of friendly, non-rogue squadrons up to your squadron value. Those squadrons gain scout. Which allows those squadrons to deploy outside of deployment zones and do not have to be placed at distance 1-2 of friendly ship and beyond range five of enemy ships. Clone Captain Zak cost 5pts and while attacking from side or rear (but not a salvo attack) may exhaust this card at add 1 die to your attack pool. This card starts with a concentrate fire token and can use concentrate fire token to refresh the card. Clone Gunners is 4pts when you use a concentrate fire command you may discard a concentrate fire assigned to another friendly ship at distance one to five of the defender. If you do, add one blue die set to accuracy to the attack pool.

Two other upgrades were revealed. Reactive Gunnery for four points allows the salvo effect by exhausting this card and spending a readied defence token. Swivel Mount Batteries is 8pts and locked to the clones wars factions it can be exhausted to add a focus token which allows to add a die of any color from an adjacent hull zone's armament to the attack pool. However when attacking from the adjacent hull pool. It costs a concentrate fire token to unexhaust however that removes the focus token.

I am getting super excited for this new content. The Armada community has been waiting for regular new content. I hope that these releases kick start the community near me.
