Joining the Rebellion

At the end of 2020 and the reveal of Lando I decided to take the plunge into Rebels. I have not been interested in the Rebels play style especially during the rampaging of Tauntarns. I have looking in at the Rebels disinterested in the way they play. I am not saying that Rebels were at any point bad or boring to play, they just did not appeal to me. That is until the last points change and the reveal of Lando.

Lando's style both on the battlefield and off has peaked my interest, so much so I have been able to get hold of a bunch of Rebel troopers, 2 ATRTs and 2 units Commandos.

I have also added some Mandalorian Resistance, 2 Rebel Trooper Upgrades, a Rebel Specialist Pack and Cassian Andor. This is a starting point but I need to get alot more to be completive.

I have played three games with Rebels so far (one skirmish and two 800pt games) The skirmish game was against Clones which I lost despite my opponent over extending with Rex and Phase twos trying to take the centre. Despite the loss of phase 2, 2 ARC strike teams and a BARC I was wiped out to a man in 5th turn.

The list I was running in these two games was Cassian K2SO, 2 ATRTs, Mandos with Tristan, s strike team and a full commando unit. My two 800pt games were both against CIS. The one win I have had was against Dooku, STAPs, a B2 unit and a bunch of B1s. I was red player and we played Key positions, Major Offensive and Fortified positions. Dooku died early turn 2 which made my job much easier and ended up wiping the rest of the army out by turn 6. The other game I played was against Grevious, Maul, full BX squad, BX sniper strike team and 6 B1s. I was red player again, losing the roll off. My opponent double passed on his counter and after my two cancels we were left with Long March, Key positions and supply drop. There was a smallish LOS blocking building in the centre of the board and the first deployment was Maul infiltrating behind this building. To keep it short I could not kill Maul or Grevious despite throwing lots of firepower and by turn 3 the writing was on the wall for me. I struggled on until turn 6 but could not unseat or kill enough of anything as I lost basically everything.

My list had no answers to force users with Force choke and push causing massive problems for my army. I wish I had OP Luke to countering Maul and Grevious.

Over this games (and another I have had since starting) I have come to appreciate turn zero for the rebels. I have been only played as red player. This is due to not having access to vital assets or priority supplies at the moment. I have made the mistake of picking the wrong deployments in two of my losses either not pushing for for hemmed in or not pushing to Long March instead of remaining on Disarray.

Once I have access to all the battle cards I intend of increasing my bid. Being able to pick my table edge and veto half of all battle cards for Rebels seems important.

I can not wait to get my Rebels on the table more often and to get Lando out.
