The Mad Titan
I must admit that I have not had enough games to determine just how good Thanos is. However I simply love using him. So the question is how to best to use him?Thanos is the leader of the Black Order in MCP with two leadership abilities one on his healthy side and another one on his dazed side. The healthy side awards a victory points for KOing enemy characters. However on his dazed side your team can take damage to reroll dice up to three. His attacks are Strike and Cosmic Blast. The Strike has a wild throw and his blast has a wild effect that pushes and stuns reducing the amount of power his opponents has to respond. Has a reposition ability called cosmic portal. The two powers I like the most are Being of Immeasurable Power and Death’s Decree. Death’s Decree is a reactive power that allows other characters to add dice to their attacks by Thanos spending two power. The other character gets two dice if healthy but gets four if on their dazed side. It makes Thanos a great support for any squad if you can play the six threat. Being of Immeasurable Power allows Thanos to have two infinity gems, use any powers the gems have without paying the power cost and reduces incoming damage by one. That damage reduction is huge especially one his eight stamina just on his healthy side. Nothing changes on his dazed side expect Thanos stamina is a massive nine.
Thanos is a beast with 17 stamina combined and damage reduction good luck taking him out. Thanos is a centre piece if he is in your roster the aim should be to have him in every squad. I get him onto the centre objective and sit there throwing out strikes or cosmic blasts and supporting with Death’s Degree.
What Infinity gems should Thanos take? This can be the hardest thing to decide, there are six and are all different. All the gems generate an additional power for Thanos. The gems also take up character slots in your roster so you don’t want to bring them all.
The reality gem is the one I use most. It is one threat and allows Thanos to count a single critical failure as a critical success. Note the wording on that you don’t modify the failure to a success it just counts as meaning anything that stops a character from modifying dice won’t stop this.
The power gem is one I don’t look at much. For one threat it gives an additional power in the power phase meaning most characters get 3 total. (One for existing one for having a gem and one for the power gem) I don’t think this is worth it for Thanos.

The soul gem for one threat has a reactive power that when enemy characters use superpowers within range four Thanos gains a power. This is why I don’t use the power gem because the ceiling on this is huge. Most squads I play against are 3-5 characters so in theory Thanos can get 5-7 power each round before taking damage which just provides all the power you would need for Death’s Degree or tactics cards.
The time gem is two threat and on Thanos gives me a free action every turn thanks to his Being of Immeasurable Power superpower. It does make Thanos threat eight which really limits your squad. A free action is huge but is half an activation from Thanos worth not having a Black Widow or Nebula? I don’t think so.
The mind gem is one threat and allows Thanos to advance an enemy characters for free thank you Being of Immeasurable Power. This seems a huge power controlling an enemy character to move short at range three of Thanos. I am not sure it is
The space gem is the last one to talk about, two threat for Red Skull's cosmic portal ability. Almost better to take Red Skull for two threat more.
In my opinion the two to have in a roster are the reality and mind gems and then use one of them in a game with Thanos.
So send your Black Order forward lead by the Mad Titan. I will be!
